A Case of the Mondays??

Man, you've really got to love it when you wake up on a Monday morning to your child screaming bloody murder...feeling a little warm...bleeding in his mouth due to teething...yanking his ears off...and (this is gross) having THREE diarrhea diapers within 30 minutes, one of which got smeared all over my kitchen rug. All before 7:30. Oh, and the hubs is out of town until tomorrow.

Really?

This has definitely been a morning where the Lord is teaching me something. What it is...I am not so sure quite yet. As I am typing this, I can feel the tension in my neck and shoulders as well as my head hurting just a smidgen.

Yes, I took Knox to the pediatrician this morning (during nap time...AWESOME!). I was sure it was an ear infection. I chalked all the other symptoms up to teething, but when he had those nasty diapers I checked the web and apparently diarrhea is a big sign of ear infections. Much to my surprise, the doc checked his ears and he said they looked great. Everything looked normal. He looked in his mouth and said "Wow, Regan. His top teeth are really cooking all at once and it looks like they might all bust through at the same time." I was a little embarrassed that I took him in and nothing was really "wrong", but in a way I am glad that I did because it has been a rough few days with him fussing and I needed some peace of mind. In fact, I can honestly say that little Foxie has been testing me for a while now with constant screaming :(. I feel terrible for him because I know it hurts him, but it still puts me on edge a little to hear it 24/7 (am I a bad mom for confessing that?). I think the Lord is really trying to break me of my need to feel "in control" with Knox all the time, and just roll with the punches. It's funny because I've always considered myself easy going, but with Knox I am learning that I need to relax a little more and be O.K. with the fact that he is going to fuss. All that to say I DETEST TEETHING!!!! We went over all the basic teething treatments, Dr. Rux gave me some drops to put in his ears, and seeing as how the ears and teeth share nerves that are connected, he said that the drops will end up completely numbing his teeth. He called them liquid gold :). Oh how I hope he is right. Don't doubt that "meat" (the doc's nickname for him) weighs 21 pounds and is almost 31 inches long. 75th percentile in weight and off the charts in height still. "Meat" is napping right now, thank goodness. The drops won't be ready until this afternoon and Foxie has been quite vocal about his pain...

My friend Brady comes over once a week to hang out and with her little guy and we also use it as a time to catch up with each other and really see how each other is doing. She came today and we blew up Foxie's pool and thought the boys would love it since it's so hot outside. The water was a little chilly but we gave it a shot. I think it was more fun for them to look at the pool while riding in the wagon at the same time. The dolphin squirts water out of the top, and I think that was too much, too fast :).

Also, we had the PRIVILEGE of hosting some of the absolute sweetest people this weekend! Nathan is one of Lee's close friends from college and he and his wife came down with their a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e daughter, Hayes. Foxie had a big ole time with her :). She was so precious, teensy, quiet, and calm. I am sure that wild child scared her a bit. It made me realize even more the difference between boys and girls, and that I would be up a creek if a girl were to ever enter our family. He loved to watch her, though. Maybe he has his first crush? We didn't get many pics, but I snapped some quick pajama shots...

OK, I am off to straighten up and head to pick up his prescription. Please pray that these drops work some miracles for us! I hope your Monday has been a little less hectic than mine!

Wednesdays

For most people, Wednesday is just an ordinary day of the week. "Hump Day" if you will. For me, since I have moved back, Wednesdays have become one of my favorite days of the week. On Wednesday nights Misty, Angie, Cathie and Brady come over and we eat dessert and study God's word together. It's such a sweet time with sweet girls. I love that the Lord has all of our relationships growing deeper and stronger not only with Him, but also with each other. These are the kind of girls that you can be open and vulnerable with, pour your heart out to, let them see how sinful you REALLY are, and never ever once feel judged or unaccepted. I truly believe that authentic, deep friendships are one of the greatest gifts from the Lord. For me, it restores my soul to talk to these girls, hear about their lives, mourn with them, rejoice with them, LAUGH with them, pray with them...just walk through life with them. Each of these girls are so special and love the Lord so much, and it has encouraged me and challenged me in my own personal walk. I am so thankful for many things, but I will say that these girls definitely rank somewhere at the top of my list. Yay for being back in Fairhope and able to spend as much time as possible with these girls!

As for Foxie... teething, teething, and more teething. As soon as the first tooth broke through, we were able to get some relief for a few days. Ahh, but that has long passed and we are back to gnawing on anything we can get our chubby hands on. Thank goodness the crib has a guard on it because when he is SCREAMING at 6:30 on the morning (sometimes 5:30!), I go to his room and find him chomping away on the crib. If it weren't for the guard, he would have eaten his way out of the crib. We were playing outside a little while ago and I took a quick peek (it has to be quick...he doesn't LOVE it when I dig in his mouth :)) and I saw tooth #2 coming in at the bottom beside the first one. I am actually asking the Easter Bunny to bring Knox a FULL set of teeth on Easter morning. The thought of carrying this out for many more months to come is not a pleasant one.

It's also a little hectic with his crawling and pulling up. He is everywhere and I can't take my eyes off of him! I left the room for 2 seconds the other day and he made a bee-line to Maddox's water bowl and when I turned the corner, he was holing it up in the air covered in water...just laughing away! He will pull up on anything. My leg, your leg, the ironing board, Maddox, etc. It's all super safe, and by that I mean OPPOSITE DAY! He's busted it many times already and I can only imagine what the future holds. So, life has changed a little bit for us :).

His new thing is waving. Super, DUPER cute. He doesn't really understand it too well, but he really likes doing it. Tried to get it on video, but of course he wasn't having it. I also tried to get a snap shot of his one and a half tooth, but he wasn't having that either. After I got a shot of his chin, nose, lips, and ear, I gave up on the teeth and just took a regular picture!

Horses, Friends, and Baskets...

Lee and I went to the Foley outlets today to have a chance to get out and play in the sunshine. Such beautiful weather, and lucky for us (or shall I say Knox)...the carousel was open! I immediately jumped at the idea and I am so glad we did. He LOVED it! Sadly, I was nauseous by the time the ride was over, but seeing his face light up was well worth it!

If you have kids, ever notice how hard it is to get a picture with ALL of you in it? I hate that we always have to take turns and let the other person actually snap the pic. Anyways, Foxie had a blast. He grabbed hold of that pole and went to town, bouncing up and down throughout the ride.

Sanders came over to play this week while his mommy got a haircut. We love having friends come over to play! Sanders will be 1 year next month, and he will also be a big brother to TWINS early this fall!!! As soon as Brady dropped him and left, it occurred to me that neither one of the boys could walk, and it was lunch time for the both of them! They were both looking at me like, "What now? I'm hungry?" Here's how I resolved the immobile issue:

It's true. I brought the wagon inside the house and snapped them in. That way I could take them both with me and they could play together at the same time. At one point I had both boys on my hips and I had no clue how to function. Thank you Radio Flyer wagon. You really know how to help a girl out. I'm sad that Aidan didn't make the pic (Cathie's 18 month old). If he were there he could have pulled the boys around! The 3 of us all have boys that look EXACTLY like their father. I tried to get some close ups while we went for a walk outside. It didn't really work out too well (surprise surprise), but here's what I got. Please say hello to Matt and Lee (Sanders and Knox):

Sanders- He has the most amazing blue eyes! Can't really tell from this pic, though :(. When I look at this pic, all I see is Matt, his daddy.

Foxie- giving me a "what are you doing?" face, just like his daddy always does. Of course, when I look at this pic I see Lee.

I need a picture of Aidan! He looks just like his daddy as well and has bright blue eyes. Hopefully we can get a shot of the 3 of them together soon...

And lastly, I have been working on Knox's Easter basket. If you and I are close, then you know that I am possibly one of the cheapest people alive and hate spending significant amounts of money on things that I feel like I can make myself. There have been many trial and errors along the way, but half the time I get an idea of exactly what I want and I can't find it... OR it is crazy expensive. I didn't really know what I wanted for him, I just knew that I wanted something different. Anyways, I saw some cute ones online between 50 and 60 bucks. The more I looked at them the more I realized that they could be reproduced. I went to Michaels and shopped around a bit and ended up buying this basket for $3.00:

and turned it in to this:

I plan on painting a verse on the back of it, but I still can't decide on which one. It's sitting on my kitchen table to remind me to finish it, but it's been there for over a week. Decision, decisions. Anyways, I love painting and doing anything involving crafts, so this ended up being a fun thing to do and I am going back to buy some matching baskets for future kiddos (hopefully!). To end on a funny, Wawa (we all know who I'm talking about) took one look at it and asked why I made a basket big enough for the actual Easter Bunny himself to fit into?? Gotta love it. I guess that means she doesn't want me to make her one??

Spring Fever Chase Run

This weekend was Fairhope's annual Arts and Crafts Festival, and with that came the Spring Fever Chase Run. I won't go in to details about my performance (hence the fact that my bum knee'd husband AND friend that is preggers with twins both finished before me)...just know that I didn't stop running and I finished it. The saddest part of the run was that my sweet friend and running partner, Cathie, was unable to run with us due to shin splints :(. She brought her family down to cheer us on along the way, though, which brought a huge smile to my face!

Here is Brady and I after the run...and she has a little boy that is 11 months old AND 2 HEARTBEATS INSIDE HER BELLY!!!!!! I love it!!!!!

Praise Jesus, Lord on High!!!! (and I don't say this lightly!)

The tooth fairy came to our house 2 nights ago and left Foxie a little somethin' somethin'! OH MY WORD has it been a long teething season! No lie. My entire family had a celebration over the first "tip of a toofer." Of course he won't let me get a picture of it, but hopefully we will be able to snap a shot soon. It has been a big week for Knox...first crawling and now a chomper :). Hopefully the others aren't too far behind!
