Jack-Pot!

This will be a quick post with few words, so don't worry! Just wanted to post some updates with Greer's room. I didn't think it would be this soon that we would start getting furniture, but some of my sister's friends-well, I guess they are kind of my friends, too-told me about this AH-MAZING antique furniture store in Grand Bay (yes, Grand Bay :)) for super duper great prices. They warned us that it was a little "shabby" - but all good antiques come from shabby places, right? Here is what the building, a.k.a. shed, looked like:

We drove an hour to get to this place, so I was thinking that we might have wasted a trip at first. But then we went inside and I fell in love. With everything. I was wanting kitchen tables and china cabinets before we left :). Here is the short dresser that we got for Greer, which will also be used as a changing table since the mirror detaches (please excuse the terrible angles, but there are toys ALL over the floor and I had to squeeze in to get some pictures):

And here is the tall dresser, minus the rest of the pulls that are on their way. I can't decide if I want to paint all the pulls white or leave them dark??

We got that window pane that's hanging over it as well. I think I will put some pictures and verses in the individual panes.
And lastly, here is a random mirror that we liked that we will be putting in the guest bathroom:

You would fall out if you knew how great these prices were, so if you are ever in Grand Bay and need some furniture, you should stop in!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

So Far...

Well, I promised a special certain someone that I would post a picture of Greer's bedding tonight, so wha-la!

This is big for me because I hate to "reveal" things that aren't finished, and let me tell you that her room is nowhere near finished. Heck, I have barely started. BUT...Her room is still partially Knox's playroom and it will be a while before we make it completely hers, so I figured that I would post in phases. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the colors are green, yellow, blue, and brown. I searched for girl bedding for a while before we knew the sex and I seriously did not see anything that I liked. When we found out it was a "boy", we were shopping at Storkland and saw this bedding. I remembered telling Lee that if we would have had a girl, this would have been the perfect bedding for me (and by me, I mean Greer :)). So, we went on our merry way shopping for what we thought was boy Greer, and well...you know the rest of the story. Once we found out it was a girlie Greer, I immediately remembered this bedding and Lee was kind enough to pick it up for me while he was in Montgomery. Score.

And naturally, I have taken on an art project that is consuming me. I'm OK with it, though, because I really do love doing this kind of stuff and I feel like I rarely have time for it anymore. This will probably take me quite a while to finish, so again...I will cheat and post in phases. I feel like I have done a lot of canvas art lately so I wanted to switch it up a little. I decided to go the wood route. Do you ever have an idea of what you want in your mind but you can't find anything like it anywhere? That's definitely the story of my life. I sometimes try to explain to Lee and sister what I want and they look at me like they have no clue what I am talking about. Therefore, I marched my pregnant behind on up to Lowes and shopped around in the lumber section for a while. Got a nice man to help me take measurements and cut all the boards. Since then, I have been working my tail off in the garage painting, distressing, sanding, etc., while Knox is either at MDO or napping. Let me tell ya, turning regular wood into distressed wood = not so easy. I know I look hysterical to our neighbors as I sand as hard as I can with my nasty, sweaty, pregnant self, and looking lovely while I do it I'm sure. I have only finished one letter, but the end result will be her first name.

This picture was taken from my phone while showing sister the progression, so it isn't great and it cut off the bottom half of the wood, but you get the idea. I'm too lazy to go out there and retake. The letters are dark brown right now, but I think I might paint them a shade of green to match the bedding, and then I plan to hang them by thick chocolate and white polka dot ribbon that matches the crib sheet. Hopefully I will be able to get it finished by January 28th...

And lastly, over her changing table (that we don't have quite yet), I really want to use the verse 1 Timothy 4:12-
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
That verse really just pulls at my heart ever since the first time I read it. I want to put it somewhere in Knox's room, too. It is definitely our prayer for all of our children, and I love that it mentions purity. It might be one of my all time favorite verses as a parent.

So...thats the scoop with Baby Greer's nursery. Not too far along, but getting there one step at a time. Luckily, I have a little while before she gets here. I will post more as we go along.

I am off to bed. My friend Brady is delivering her twin boys tomorrow and I want a front row seat in all the action! OK, thats gross. Not really front row, but I do want to be there early enough to experience their sweet family growing from 3 to FIVE!!!!!!!!

Nightie night!

I really hope this baby comes out a girl...

Because I've been having a little too much fun on the "pink" side of life lately :). As my mother in law stated, we are all shopping and planning for a "Girlie" Greer, so a boy Greer would be very disappointed in the clothes and bedding we have picked out for him! Here are a few things that bring a smile to my face...things that I was never able to purchase with Foxie.

Yes, I realize that it will be a long time before Greer will wear a bow, but I just couldn't resist.

I have some news to report about Knox and MDO. He is really enjoying it and doing well, and it has really freed me up a little to have some "me" time. Lee and I LOVE his teacher and are very impressed with the program. However, when I picked up Foxie on Tuesday, the teacher told me that there was an "incident." I immediately thought Knox had done something really bad, but it turns out that there is a biter in his class, and he got a hold of my little guy :(. So sad! However, I really think that I am just glad that Knox wasn't the one that was doing the biting. He hasn't bitten anyone yet, but I hear it's a common thing around this age. His teacher said that all the teachers took turns loving on him and holding him and put an ice pack to his hand, and that he didn't cry for too long. She told me that I was MORE than welcome to talk to the Administrator, but I chose not to. He's tough and I am sure that things like this will happen again in his life. But...I will say that when she showed me his hand, my heart sank. There were bright red teeth marks on his chunky little hand, and the skin had even broken on one spot. I tell you what, nothing makes your "Mama Bear" come out like seeing your child hurt. It really is OK, though. Again, I'm just glad he wasn't the one biting (and I'm praying that he never does, but who knows?). We went straight to the bay house after I picked him up and we sat on the wharf and had snacks together. That cheered him right up. Food always does the trick with him :). I asked if he had done something to the child to make him mad (still fearing that my child was in the wrong...aren't I horrible?), and Mrs. Sonya said no. She said he was really a sweet one and didn't do anything to make the child mad. Again, instant relief. I love my child, but he is all boy and I wouldn't doubt if he found himself in some mischief. He keeps me on my toes constantly around here.
As you already know, my mom and sister are my best friends so they heard about the incident within about 2 minutes of departure and they were so sad. My nieces called after they got out of school to "check" on Knox. Ha! And don't doubt for a second that when Wawa found out, she had some choice words to say! That 87 year old lady is too much!
SO...that's the story of our first school incident. I totally know it's not a big deal, but it's no fun to see your child with a bo bo. On the way to school this morning I was praying for him before I dropped him off that he would have a great day, an obedient spirit, play sweet with all the children, and not pick up on any new chomping maneuvers :).

Happy Game Day!!

I believe that most of the people that follow this blog are Auburn fans, so you probably won't love this pic as much as we do, but how could you NOT at least like it a little with those BIG cheeks! :). This is how little Foxie ate his pancakes this morning, and he smiled the entire way through. I am so glad that football season is finally here! I'm ready to get out in the backyard and throw the ole pigskin around with him (and of course, let Greer dress up in cheerleading attire as we do so). I really do hope that everyone has an awesome game day (Yes, even Auburn fans :)), and your team wins! The only team I don't wish that for is San Jose State! Roll Tide!!

It's Official :)

I went back today and baby Greer is definitely a girl baby Greer! I think I am believing it now :). Baby boy bedding in the process of being shipped back, and baby girl bedding already purchased...so this puppy better come out a "hamburger" :). I won't lie that I am very excited about the girl clothes. Some friends and I went to a kids market sale today, and it was so weird for me to be on the pink side this time :). However, pink is not my favorite color (yet), so most girl things we buy won't be all pink, I'm sure. But until I come around, I think we will be pretty well covered. Within hours of finding out it was really a girl on Monday, this was distributed all over my couch:

Can you tell my sister is a little eager to clean out her house? Bless her heart, she has been very neatly and strategically packing and saving girl clothes for me for the longest time. What you see is only size newborn to 6 months, I believe? I told her we would have to do
It in shifts because there was no way everything would fit!!! I am very blessed and very lucky to have an awesome sister that has 3 girls...and AMAZING taste in clothes :). So, am I still sad about not having another boy right now? Not so much...

Twins born 18 months apart?

Foxie to the left and Greer to the right! I have been looking at these sweet profiles all day long and I love how much they resemble each other! I am sure they will have their differences...I am just really hoping Greer has Knox's big cheeks :)

Curve Ball

Most of you have seen the news on facebook. For those of you who haven't yet, the news is this: looks like our sweet baby boy Greer is going to be a sweet baby girl Greer??? I know what you are thinking. What in the world?!?!? I have heard of people thinking it was a girl and then finding out it was a boy, but not the other way around. Here is how it went down...

For the past month or so I have been having some really bad pains on the right lower side of my abdomen. The docs and I just figured it was growing pains from everything stretching and expanding. Well, they got really ad this weekend and we had to leave church early yesterday. I laid on the couch all day and then we went to community group. When we got home I was putting Knox in his crib and the pain hit me so hard that my knees buckled and Lee had to pretty much catch Knox. I rolled around and screamed a bit, and it scared both Lee and Knox. Lee wanted to go to the ER, but I opted just to call the on-call doctor and try to wait it out until this morning. I went in and heard the heartbeat, which was strong-praise the Lord, they checked me, which was pretty sore, and then they did an ultrasound to check for cysts or fibroids. I am going to have to give you a play by play of the conversation between the tech and I:

Tech: "OK, well, everything looks really good and the baby looks healthy. I don't see any cysts on your ovaries. The baby is in a ball on the right side of your stomach, so it could be touching a nerve or something. I see that you have your big gender reveal ultrasound appt on Thursday. Do you want to wait until then since your husband isn't here? (Lee was at home while Knox napped. We are only 2 blocks from the hospital so he wasn't far if he needed to come up there)

me: "Nah. We can go ahead and do it so that I don't have to come back on Thursday. We cheated and found out the sex early at Virginia College School of Ultrasound in Birmingham, so he isn't missing anything too important."

tech:"Oh! You know the sex?! Well, don't tell me. I want to be surprised when I find it."

**a few minutes goes by while she checks everything out and measures, and then she starts a high pitch squeal...

tech: "DID they tell you that you were having a little girl!!!!!!!?"

me: (in a high pitched squeal) "NO!! They told me I was having a little boy!"

So then the tech gets straight faced and is like "are you serious?" She kept me on the table for what seemed like an hour and kept looking and looking. She was nervous to keep telling me that it was a girl because she knew that I was so excited about 2 boys close in age...

tech: "Regan...I am looking and looking for that penis but it's no where to be found..."

***I am seeing the entire thing and there is definitely not a penis. All I kept thinking was "Where the crap did the penis go???? I've got new boy bedding sitting at my house and have already purchased baby boy stuff for Greer!" I thought that at any second she would say, "There it is!" but no ma'am. She printed off the pictures and gave them to me, and took one to show the doctors and nurses. They all giggled and said "Oh Regan...this is a textbook picture of a girl ultrasound." I asked why I was told that it was a boy to begin with and all they could think was that since I was 15 weeks pregnant and 2 students performed the ultrasound, maybe they though the cord was the penis, or something else? It's so strange. Almost as if I don't know what to believe. I mean, I feel like I should side with my doctors office and the experienced technician. I mean, talk about a curve ball!

So, after everyone there laughed at me for a good bit (in a joking way), I then called everyone. No one believes me...until I show them the picture. Then they are like "oh my! Where is the penis?" Thats what I'm screaming. My sweet, sweet husband. Poor guy. As we were sitting silently across from each other at lunch picking at our food because we still could not believe it, he says this to me... (sorry for the inappropriateness...but it's too funny NOT to share)...

Lee: (he's been quiet and thinking really hard for a few minutes) "Maybe the 3 lines we are seeing is this: his penis is wrapped around and stuck in between his butt cheeks, squishing his balls down the middle. Therefore making it ball-penis-ball and it just looks like 3 lines???"

HAHAHA. I totally spit my drink out across the table when he said that! Only him!

SO...thats where we are. Many friends have called and asked if I was "O.k" since they knew I was pumped about 2 boys. Heres the skinny on that. With this pregnancy I have gone back and forth a little on which one I preferred. I already have a boy and I am such a tomboy that I have been so excited to hear we are having brothers. But honestly, if it is a girl, then I know that I will love her just as much. God is good and he knows exactly what we need.We should probably be in prayer over my husband, though. I think he is really hoping it will come out a boy! The thought of raising a little girl scares him to death.

So, I will leave you with the ultrasound picture. Let me know if you think pink or blue...

(Sorry. dont know how to turn it, but you get the picture...)

Here is Knox's ultrasound at 18 weeks...
