The first of many, I'm sure...

Some of you facebook people might have seen that I have been diagnosed with the swine flu. I still can't believe I have it. When the swine flu was introduced all over the news many months back, I was the main one of my family and friends to freak out. I was pregnant and so worried I would get it (as well as my family and friends) , and everyone laughed at me and told me that there was NO way that it would even come close to us. Well well well. Look where we are now. I felt horrible over Christmas with what we thought was just a bad cold. When I still had the symptoms on new year's eve, we decided I needed to run up to the Pri-med and get some antibiotics so Knoxie wouldn't get anything. I hate doctors and I never would have gone if I didn't feel worried that I would pass germs to Knox. Anyways, after they ran all the tests they came back and told me the news. I was seriously emailing my sister that morning-joking with her that I better not have the swine! Not so funny anymore...
As soon as they told me, I went in to panic mode and shouted "I HAVE A 5 MONTH OLD BABY BOY THAT I STAY HOME WITH EVERYDAY! COULD HE HAVE IT? COULD HE HAVE IT?" Tears started to form a little as I thought about the possibility of me giving it to Knox, as well as sweet baby Reese (his second cousin) that we had just visited days prior. Long story short I went straight home with the swine flu, bronchitis, and a Z-pack and we called the pediatrician. They told us that since his immune system is so strong, he should be perfectly fine but to watch out for symptoms. Well, Knox made the mistake of sneezing once this morning so before I knew it Lee made an appointment with the pediatrician and took Knox by himself to have some tests run. I must say that I am thankful (and impressed) that Lee took him by himself and everything checked out. The good news is that Knoxie is perfectly healthy, but the bad news is that he came home with his first "boo boo" ( Before I go on I want to make it known that I know it was a total accident and that it could happen to anyone, so I am definitely not blaming my husband! ). I called Lee like 3 times while he was at the doctor (killed me that I couldn't go), and when he picked up I could hear Foxie yelping at the top of his lungs, so I asked Lee if having his nose swabbed made him that mad?? Lee got real quiet and said, "Ummmm. no. We just had a little accident but the doctor took a look and everything is fine." Naturally (in my calmest, sweetest voice---sike!), I asked what happened and he said that Knox was sitting up on the table like a "big boy" playing with him and all of a sudden dove head first into the wall (I know, at least he didn't fall to the floor). I mean, he's totally fine and I was relieved to hear it wasn't that big of a deal, but when he walked into the house with Knox and I saw his head my jaw hit the floor. I could tell Lee was nervous to show me and felt guilty so I tried to not show too much emotion, but it looked so bad :(. After Knox woke up from his nap he was totally happy and played just like normal and I took a pic with my phone to show my sister. Prepare yourself...
please excuse the not-so-good pic, but he had just woken up and it was the only one I was able to get with my phone on such short notice (by the way, I have to give a shout out to Papa and Nana for his new t-shirt from Mexico...his turtles light up in the dark and he is fascinated by them at nap time:)). Can you see the bruise?? I know its probably just a small taste of whats to come in my future, and not a big deal at all, but man did he hit that wall hard! It is starting to turn blue now so I am sure it will look lovely tomorrow! Poor guy!
Anyways, like I said earlier, he is totally fine. Daddy kissed on him extra extra today because he felt so bad :(.
Before I go, here is a precious picture of him, Reese, and Aunt B! Look closely and you will see that they are holding hands! I love it!!!

  1. Poor Foxie!! I'm glad he is healthy though! And, he still looks happy!

Reese is still healthy...I, on the other hand, am not....I don't think it's the swine, but I've got something.

It's no fun being sick with a baby huh??

  2. Regan, I can't believe you have the swine flu!! I thought that stuff was long gone! So sorry to hear about that-I hope the meds kick in soon for you and that you're back to feeling better soon. And I am so sad for little Knoxie boy's boo-boo! I know that is a terrible feeling when they have a bruise-at least it happened at the doctor's office so he was in good hands. Get well soon both of you!!
