Gettin' my stride back...

The training is going well. Running is definitely not as easy to me as it once was, but as I was running this afternoon I remembered why I fell in love with it in the first place...

We took Knox with us down to the bay and I honestly do not think the scenery could be any more beautiful...especially this time of year with all the bright, beautiful flowers that have been planted. There were so many people out running, riding bikes with their families, holding hands and walking, taking pictures, etc. The entire atmosphere was breath-taking. What an awesome day of enjoying the Lord's beautiful creation. I SO wished that we would all have been in some decent looking attire-as well as have a real camera with us instead of just my phone-BUT...the flowers were just too pretty and we couldn't pass up the opportunity for a photo shoot!

My man turned 7 months this past Friday! I can't believe it. Every single month gets better and better with him since he is growing and learning and doing funny things. I'm pretty sure every parent will tell you that each month is better and more fun than the last :). However, we still do not have any teeth and we have been working on them for 4 months strong now. HELP!! We have tried everything in the book and we aren't getting much relief. Lee keeps saying that he wants to take a file or a thimble and rub down the gums to help the teeth come through, but I'm pretty much standing my ground and saying no to that one :). Please keep our church nursery workers in your prayers...they got a big taste of his teething this morning :( !

We got our first birthday invite in the mail last week. Foxie held it in his hands, smiled, and drooled all over it. He was excited...especially since it came from a VERY cute little girl :).

What a Beautiful Day!

I am so glad that some spring-like weather has stopped in for the day! I took Foxie outside after his morning nap and he loved sitting outside in the warmth, playing with his toys and watching Maddox run around like a chicken without a head! He also enjoyed picking up every single tiny piece of grass. Man oh man am I ready to be outside everyday. We have been held hostage inside the house due to chili temperatures, and today was a treat. Can't wait for it to be warm enough for him to ride in the boat. I have a feeling that he is going to love that!
Side note: is anyone as disappointed in Ellen's performance on American Idol as I am? I really thought she was going to be MUCH funnier, but she says the same exact thing and it sounds like she has no clue what shes talking about. She just stares ahead like a deer in headlights. Sadness. I was telling a friend today that it almost makes me wish that Paula was back, and that is saying A LOT!

Terrific Tuesdays!

I love Tuesdays. For about 8 years now, my sister has gone to Wawa's house every Tuesday so that she and the kids can see her. Like I have noted previously in my blog, Wawa isn't your typical grandmother and we have WAY too much fun whenever we are around her. You never know what is going to come out of her mouth. I have never been able to go to Wawa's on Tuesdays due to me teaching, then we moved to Montgomery and I was definitely out of range, but now I am back with a baby so I get to join the Haygood carpool and ride over to see her every week! She absolutely adores babies, and her house is heaven for the kids. She always has something new for them from the dollar store waiting on them when we get there. She is so funny. Her main weekly outing is to run to the dollar store by the mall and pick something out. The kids FLIP over whatever trinket she gets. She bought a ribbon on a white stick thingy the other week and seriously busted out a theatrical dance for the kids. She's 86. Robyn and I were wetting our pants. Knox and Carley just stared with admiration. God love Wawa. Many toys have accumulated at her house since the first grandchild was born, and the big car is Knox's favorite. He is in it every week and would probably just sit in there the entire time if we let him. He barely looks at me for pictures anymore...exhibit A:

Another favorite of his is HATS. If you are wearing one and holding him at the same time, you better go ahead and plan on giving it up. I tried to cover my half dried hair in pig tails this morning by wearing one, and you see how successful I was:

After lunch, Riri (my mom) got herself a piece of lemon pie that had some whipped cream on it. We decided to give Foxie a little taste of the whip cream - I know, I'm a bad parent. Well, he loved it. We gave him one more little taste and as I was holding him and talking to mom, this is what happened:

I guess he figured that he wasn't finished? Hysterical. He slammed his entire hand down in it.

And then of course I have to post a pick of my baby girl, Carley. I honestly can't handle her cuteness. There aren't enough hours in the day to tell about all the hilarious things that she does and says. This picture captures it all:

The blue mouth comes from her ring pops that Wawa got her from the dollar store :)

Embarrassed

Yes, I'm a loser to ask this, but does anyone know how to upload a video from your phone to blogger?
Don't judge me for being so technology illiterate...

Training Day 1!!

Training for the 1/2 has officially begun, and I must say that I did HORRIBLE! Ugh. It was rough. But as my friend Cathie says...We must start somewhere.

We took our cheering section with us for motivation:

He even provided water for me since he could clearly see I was sucking wind:

And because it's Lee, and we are both super competitive, "Rocky" here had to outdo me and run stairs before we left. He asked that I make note that he ran 2 flights of stairs...not just one. I opted to just watch (this is when I went to get my phone for funny pics):

We were so proud of ourselves that we went home and ordered pizza!
Cathie and I went back this morning, but the only thing that really did any running was our mouths. I still came home feeling super restored, though! :)

Red!

As we were taking our morning wagon stroll, I was noticing how the sunlight was bouncing off of Knox's hair and making it look extremely sparkly red. I then noticed that his eyebrows were sparkling red as well! I thought it was super funny, so I tried my best to get a pic. This is the only picture I could get with him looking in my direction so that you could see his eyebrows! I tried to brighten the picture so you could see it better. Please excuse the pajamas ( I was in mine as well...with a hat...and a coffee mug. Thank goodness we are close to our neighbors and there is no judgement:)). I would also like to point out that this ride took place shortly after he woke up, and the perma-part is still in tact!
Oh, red headed Knox. Between the random strangers touching his hair and people constantly telling me that he doesn't look like he could be my baby, I always wonder if his temper will match his hair as he grows up. Lee and I pray over Knox every night and we always ask that the Lord would give him a peaceful temperament. I don't know why, but I just have a gut feeling that this guy is going to give us a run for our money. I was telling my friend Cathie this last night and her response was "Don't speak it!!!!" Ha. I thought that was funny. I hope I am not jinxing myself :).
To be perfectly honest, I was a little concerned about the red hair when Foxie was born. When it first started coming in it looked super orange and I didn't know what in the world to expect! Looking back at pictures and comparing them to now, it has gradually gotten to be a darker shade of red...and I am really starting to love it. I love that it is something that you don't see very often and is super rare. I once read that only 3 % of the population has truly red hair. My first thoughts were "Great...I am going to have this super tall orange headed baby that resembles something that no one else has ever seen before. I wonder how many dates he will get??!!" Ha. Now I see it more like something different and unique that the Lord has given Knox, and if you know me well, you know that I like different. Robyn and I were talking about his hair one day and she said, "At this point, Foxie wouldn't be Foxie without his red hair! I love that baby!" Oh, and love she does. My dad constantly talks about his hair and gets visibly upset if he thinks it is getting darker. "He better not loose this red. He better not." Rusty-nail. You gotta love him. I assure him that I'm pretty sure Foxie will be a red for life :) I just hope he doesn't get teased about it!
Heres another "brow" picture that I ran across.

So red and "expressionative!"

In other news, I have decided to start training for a half marathon. Lee "says" he wants to train with me. We will see how long that lasts. We live minutes from the Fairhope pier, so it makes running slightly more enjoyable when you have the beautiful bay to look at. I will definitely be starting from scratch. It's been a while since I have really been running. I am signing Lee and I up for a 10K next month. I need to get off this blog and in to my running shoes!

Shhhh....

I left the room for 2 seconds this morning to put my shoes on so we could run some errands, and I noticed it got a little quiet...

My little Valentine

This little robe-wearing man made me the sweetest Valentine's Day book entitled, "All the Reasons Why I Love You." There are over 20 pages of pictures and words telling me why he loves me so much. I was so surprised. It has been my FAVORITE Valentine's Day gift so far! The book had funny parts and super sweet parts. I wish I could post the entire book on here, but I will spare you and just post a few of my favorite pages.

Foxie did such a great job, although I think he might have had a LITTLE help from daddy :). Little man also visited a new pediatrician last week that we LOVE. I mean, LOVE LOVE LOVE. He was recommended by my sweet friend Cathie. His name is Dr. Rux and he is young and sweet and he loves him some babies! He just held Knox the entire time and loved on him for an hour. From what I hear, he is this way with all babies. He just wanted to talk to us and get to know us, and he even gives you his email address for you to email him with any questions during the day, and he checks it 3 to 4 times a day and personally responds. Anyways, we adored him and so did Foxie. He weighed 19 pounds (75th percentile) and he is just under 30 inches long, which puts us off the charts entirely. No surprise there :). Dr. Rux could not believe how big he was and he has given Knox the nickname "Meat." Haha. Very fitting...

This weekend was my family's annual Mardi Gras parade and ball. We had a great time hanging out with family and friends and catching up. Not too many pictures were taken, but here are a few. Even though we had a great time, I think this might have been our last year to attend the ball. I mean, our bedtime is 9:00 so we definitely aren't use to staying out late. AND...my feet are not use to walking around in heels all night! We will always attend the parade, though. I haven't missed one year since I was born and seeing all my family ride is so much fun! We kept Knox away from all the craziness this year, but hopefully he will enjoy all the sights and sounds next year and all the years to come.

And lastly I have to add that I am very sad that we didn't see any of the snow! I feel like it came down everywhere else but here :(. We saw maybe 20 seconds of snowflakes falling, but then it just stopped! Boo! I DO love seeing everyone else's snow pictures, though!

Perma-Part...

I had to post this picture because it shows how much Knox favors Lee in the hair department. Knox has a permanent part, no matter if he has been sleeping, sweating, bathing, etc. There is ALWAYS a part. He looks so much like a little business man with his perma-part, it's really funny. And naturally, Lee loves it. Sometimes I try to mess it up just to see what would happen. Don't worry, it goes right back in place...

Bad News/Good News

The bad news is that Foxie has one HECK of a runny nose and can't suck his paci and breathe at the same time (and of course mommy and daddy now have it, too), but the good news is that he graduated from his duckie bathtub to a big boy bath seat!

The other bad news is that his legs are so chunky that they barely squeeze through the leg holes :).

I love...

* that I am typing this post from our house in Fairhope.
* that my husband is crazy enough to move us down here in about a 24 hour time span!
* that the men in my family drove to Montgomery to help Lee pack and load the Uhaul so that I could come down to my sisters house with Knox and keep him out of the way.
* that when Knox and I pulled up to sisters, some of my family members were waiting there to surprise us and scream "Welcome Home!!!"
* that my neighbor teared up when she saw us pulling in.
* that my family adores adores adores my husband and child, and would literally bend over backwards for us.
* that I got to surprise my nieces today by picking them up from carpool line. I will never forget the look on their faces!
* that I took Knox to the park with my sister and Carley today and he got to swing for the first time.
* that even though my parents are divorced and remarried, they always come together as a big family and make sure their children and grandchildren are taken care of and loved on.
* that my dad hasn't stopped calling me to tell me how happy he is that I am home, and reminds me everytime that he lives a few miles down the street... If we ever need anything.
* that Knox is starting to hold his arms out for Cha Cha to hold him (my sister) because he really is starting to recognize her.
* that I have already gotten to see one of my favorite people...Cathie Kelly... and will be seeing her and Angie tomorrow for dinner.
* that we just moved back into our first house where we diligently prayed that the Lord would give us a baby, where we conceived the baby, and where we found out we were pregnant!
* that I went against all parenting books tonight and rocked Knox before bedtime, something I rarely do but want to do more of.
* that even though it feels like we live in a shoebox and I'm overwhelmed at times at where everything will go, I can't describe the joy that I have in my heart right now and could live in this house for years to come.
* that I have already daydreamed what it would be like to bring our next baby home to this house.
* that I am married to a man who understands exactly how important all of the above are to me.
* I love being home.
